SBGC Code of Ethics

At SBGC, our values guide how we play, connect, and grow together. These principles ensure that every member feels respected, supported, and safe while enjoying our community.

1. Respect
Treat all members, players, opponents, officials, leaders, coordinators especially family members or guardians of members
with respect and courtesy.

2. Inclusivity
Foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, regardless of badminton skill level, age, gender, religion,
race, language, physical abilities and background (national, regional).

3. Sportsmanship
Display good sportsmanship, win or lose, and
encourage others to do the same.

4. Fair Play
Adhere to the rules of the game and promote fair play.

5. Responsibility
Take responsibility for your actions and the impact of your behavior and mistakes on others.

6. Integrity
Members should act with honesty and integrity in all interactions.

7. Commitment
Show dedication to SBGC’s activities and goals.

8. Safety
Prioritize the safety and well-being of all members.

For Social Media Use (Messenger Group Chats, Facebook Group)

1. No Bullying
Avoid any form of online bullying, harassment, negative, harsh comments and offensive remarks. Don’t be disrespectful: refrain from using offensive language or making personal attacks. Treat everyone with respect and avoid saying things online, that they would not say to someone’s face. Do not say mean things, make fun of others, share secrets, gossip or lies, exclude or gang up on someone.

2. Representation
Remember that your posts, remarks and comments represent SBGC club and its values. Ensure everyone feels included and avoid forming cliques.

3. Engagement
Engage with members respectfully at ALL TIMES and respond to comments and messages in a kind, polite, respectful and timely manner. Don’t engage in arguments: handle disagreements privately and respectfully.

4. Appropriate Language
Use appropriate language that everyone understands (English or Tagalog- English (Taglish) preferably) and avoid offensive or inflammatory remarks.

5. Respect Privacy
Do not share personal information, photos and videos of others without their consent.

6. Positive Content
Post positive and constructive content that reflects well on the club.

7. Accuracy
Ensure that all information shared is accurate and not misleading.

8. Compliance
Follow all social media platform-specific ethics, guidelines and requirements to protect against security issues, and legal consequences of cyber crime, (online bullying / cyber bullying).

For SBGC Sports and Club Activities

1. Behavior
Maintain a positive, kind, welcoming, sportsmanship, professional attitude and avoid disruptive behavior.

2. Communication
Communicate respectfully with fellow members, family members and or guardians of members, players, coaches, teammates, officials, leaders, coordinators and opponents.

3. Conflict Resolution
Address conflicts calmly and respectfully, following the SBGC’s code of ethics and procedures.

4. Participation
Actively participate in club activities and support
fellow members.

5. Punctuality
Arrive on time for practices, matches, tournaments,
events and meetings.

6. Dress Code
Wear appropriate badminton attire (shoes) for
practices and matches.

7. Equipment Care
Take care of club equipment and maintain order
and cleanliness of the facilities (Batts Athletics and SBGC Tambayan Café).

These guidelines are in place to foster respect, collaboration, and a welcoming environment, ensuring that everyone at SBGC can enjoy a positive and meaningful experience together, in-person and online.
